PHALLACEAE family

The Phallaceae family includes stinkhorns, many with a phallic morphology. Those from more tropical regions of the world appear to be morphologically more 'out-of-this world’. All start out as eggs before bursting open and stretching upward. At the top of each stem are sticky and odiferous spores, which smell like rotten meat and therefore are very attractive to insects, the prime means of spore dispersal.
