Bill Bakaitis and I have been working on creating a DVD series of 20-30 minute programs on various topics geared toward the amateur mycologist who wants to know more about the subject. The programs cover all the most important aspects of mycology and have been tested in the classroom at colleges and at mycological societies. SPRING MUSHROOMS

I am frequently asked to produce a list of mushrooms that can be found in the spring in our area of the northeast. The following checklist were compiled from the COMA spring (April through May) walk collections from 2003 to 2013 (To view accompanying photos see www.pbase.com/comafungi). It is important to note that some fungi listed are left over from the previous year, particularly soft annual and hard perennial polypores and crusts, as well as old puffballs.

Using Gary Lincoff's spore print chart at the back of his Field Guide to North American Mushrooms in combination with information on cap, gill attachment and stipe characteristics, try to determine the genus of each of the following twenty gilled fungi.
