NEOLECTALES:
Neolecta is the only genus in
the family Neolectaceae and the order Neolectales.
It consists of smooth, yellowish, club-shaped fruitbodies. Though
called "Earth tongues", like Geoglossum and Microglossum, Neolectas are not
closely related to these two genera. All Neolecta species are in the family Neolectaceae and live in association with trees, though it is not known if the fungus is
parasitic, saprotrophic, or mycohrizal. It is said to be edible.
