This fleshy-tough mushroom is white-spored. Some members of the genus are quite small. All have a lateral stubby stipe, descending gills and grow on dead wood. Fruiting time depends on the species. One species fruits anytime between May and December and is bioluminescent. The one pictured here appears in autumn.
