White to pale tan, but no brown. Has more of a stem. Appears in summer when weather is warmer through fall and early winter. Medicinal properties: anti-tumor, anti-bacterial, possible diabetes treatment. Grows on hardwoods in eastern NA. Saprotrophic on dead wood causing white rot. Visited by fungus flies.
