Mucronella pendula, the ‘Icicle Fungus’
This is a short-stemed saprotrophic ‘tooth-like’ fungus without a subiculum (lacks a supporting mycelial layer) with amyloid spores. Normally the fruiting bodies hang down like soft spines from the decayed wet wood substrate. They are easy to miss, but can be found when it rains sufficiently. It is in the Clavariaceae family of the Agaricales order of the Basidiomycota.
