Russula brevipes var. acrior, the "Stubby Russula” is like Russula brevipes var. brevipes except for faint blue-green gill color, especially at top of stipe where tint may appear as a colored apical ring. It is more acrid than Russula brevipes var. brevipes and is found under pines or in mixed woods. It is in the Russulaceae family of the Russulales.
