Cortinarius evernius (Fr.) Fries 1838

CORTINARIUS evernius has a small purple-reddish-brown hygrophanous conical cap which retains an umbo while expanding. White velar remnants remain on the margin and its long stem with pale violet-blue showing near the pinched base. Broad pale lavender gills become rust brown with age.  Appears from July to October frequently in sphagnum moss among conifers. Mycorrhizal. Presumed inedible and potentially toxic. This is in the Cortinariceae family of the Agaricales order.
