Climacocystis borealis (Fr.) Kolt. & Pouzar 1958
This annual fungus is parasitic and saprotrophic on conifers, especially Eastern Hemlock. It grows at the base of these trees and causes butt and root rot. It is in the Fomitopsidaceae family of the Polyporales.
