Terrestrial, mycorrhizal . Roundish brown to grayish cap with wavy margin. Pores are decurrent. Unlike true boletes, the pores cannot be separated from the flesh beneath the cap. Grows on the ground under hardwoods and conifers, particularly under pines. Edible.
