 "Firm Russula”  Solid cap is white to beige becoming cinnamon. Fishy odor as it ages. Gills are whitish becoming brownish with bruising. Whitish stipe also stains brown. White spore print.   Found in mxed woods. Mycorrhizal. Common. Fruits even during dry spells.  'Compacta' means "solid" or "compact."
