Suillus placidus has an ivory cap tinged with yellow and aging to brown. It is convex becoming flatish. The cap is smooth, slimy when wet, and shiny when dry. Flesh is white with yellows near tubes, non-staining. Yellow pores. Whitiish stalk with red-brown spots.  Spore print us dull cinnamon. It is mycorrhizal with White Pine and with Eastern Hemlock. The stalk blotches are a characteristic of many species of SUILLUS.
