Pluteus petasatus (Fries) Gillet 

is a white to pale brown saprotrophic mushroom that is found on recently fallen wood, stumps, buried wood and wood chips of hardwoods. Initially glabrous, the center of it smooth cap becomes slightly scaly with maturity. Gills are free and the spore print is pink to brownish-pink. It is in the Plutaceae family of the Agaricales order.
