Boletus subluridellus

Easily confused with Boletus (or Neoboletus) subvelutipes. The latter grows in the vicinity of conifers. Boletus subluridellus is a hardwood associate. The cap color of Boletus subluridellus is reddish rather than the orange-brown cap color of Boletus subvelutipes. Also, in Boletus subluridellus, the cap cuticle extends beyond the tube layer thus forming a narrow yellow band of sterile tissue. .It is in the Boletaceae family of the Boletales order.
