Panellus violaceofulvus

Panellus violaceofulvus110-2

Panellus violaceofulvus is a rather small dark purple-brown to blackish oyster-like fungus that can be found growing gregariously on dead barked deciduous wood. The cap is smooth and the gills are moderately broad, close and of varying lengths. It resembles and can easily be confused with Resupinatus applicatus and Resupinatus alboniger (both of which are in the Tricholomataceae family), which are typically found growing under debarked fallen limbs and logs. It is in the Mycenaceae family of the Agaricales.
