Lactarius peckii  

LACTARIUS peckii is a medium to large distinctly zoned red-brown dry cap with a central knob on a sticky depressed disc. Gills are of varying lengths, off white becoming dark reddish brown, close, moderately broad and fimbriate. Its latex is white, voluminous and very acrid. It neither changes color with exposure to air, nor stains. Stem is concolorous with cap. Can be found in damp habitats and in sphagnum moss.  Bitter tasting. Inedible. This is in the Russulacae family of the Russulales order.
