Kretzschmaria deusta (Hoffm.) P.M.D. Martin 1970
(formerly Ustulinia deusta) is a parasitic and saprotrophic on roots and trunks of living and dead hardwoods. Appears in spring as gray crust-like fungus with white margin. Blackens as it matures. It is in the Xylaraceae family, which is in the Order Xylariales of the ascomycota.
