This cup fungus has a smooth, warm brown and sometimes folded interior (the hymenium) from which spores are ejected when mature. the paler exterior is minutely pubescent. It attaches to decaying bradleaf and conifer wood with a very short white stem like other species in this genus, Piziza repanda is very brittle. 

It is in the Pezizaceae family of the Pezizales Order.
