Gerronema strombodes is saprotrophic mushroom that grows gregariously in clusters from both decayed conifers and broadleaf wood. The pale yellowish to grayish-brown caps have fibrils that radiate from the depressed disc. They become vase-shaped with maturity. The gills are decurrent, broad and thin. the stem is pale grayish to yellowish and whitish at the base. Spore print is white.  It is in the Marasmiaceae family of the Agaricales order.
