Amanita frostiana resembles Amita flavoconia. Its cap is brilliant orange-yellow with a reddish disc, scattered bright yellow warts from the universal veil. Like Amanita flavoconia, the basal bulb is rimmed. Unlike Amanita flavoconia, the margin of Amanita frostiana’s cap is lined. Both mushrooms can be found in mixed woods, but it is my experience that Amanita frostiana is more common among conifers and in higher latitudes.
