STROPHARIACEAE family

Species in this family have rusty-brown, cinnamonoto dark brown smooth spores with an apical germ pore. Common genera in this family include Agrocybe, Gymnopilus, Hypholoma, Pholiota, and Stropharia. Psilocybe used to be in this family, but is now in the Hymenogastraceae. All species in the Strophariaceae are saprotrophic and survive on dead organic matter.
