Gloeophyllaceae family includes 3 or more species of Gloeophyllym. They exhibit a gill-like, maze-like or poroid spore-bearing surface and grow from ‘dead’ conifer wood. They are brown rotters, meqaning that their enzymes break down cellulose and hemicellulose in wood and leave the brown lignin.
