Can be found on decaying logs. Edible. Collect young, firm specimens. Pan fry with butter.
To pickle:Heat water with white vinegar, salt, garlic, dried chili pepper, sprig of thyme, etc. Once happy with the taste, turn off heat and add corals, allowing them to steep till wilted. Remove, strain, add to jars. This is in the Auriscalpiaceae family of the Russulales.
