Mycena leaiana (Berkeley) Saccardo
The Orange Mycena is a delight to see. It grows in clusters on dead hardwoods, but especially on beech. It has convex to bell-shaped bright orange cap with striations tha radiate outward from the reddish-orange disc. The pale pinkish-orange gills are often notched at the attachment point at the stem apex. Most thrilling are the red edges of its close-spaced gills. The stipe is slippery, pale yellow to rust-orange. Inedible due to mutigenic toxins. Mycena leaiana is in the Mycenaceae family of the Agaricales.
