Lactarius griseus Peck 1872
is a small mushroom with a depressed center and small knob covered in radiating brown fibers. The cream to yellowish gills are decurrent, forked at the stipe apex and exude sparse white latex that dries yellowish with staining tissues. Spore print is yellowish. Stem is dry, pale white to pinkish-tan and becomes hollow with age. Lactarius griseus is found In MOSSY BOGS and humus, fruits in autumn and is associated with CONIFERS. Taste is slightly acrid. Edibility not known. This is in the Russulacae family of the Russulales order.
