Suillus americanus (Peck) Snell 1944 "American Bolete”
Yellow-ochre convex to flat cap; slimy or tacky to the touch; red scaled blotches on the cap, especially near the margin. Tan to yellow tubes radially arranged. Large angular pores. Brownish spots on stalk. Where flesh is cut, the fruiting body turns red-brown. Ochre brown spore print. Found only under white pines, its mycorrhizal partner. Edible. Common in North America. This is in the Suilliaceae family of the Boletales.
