Pseudohydnum gelatinosum

This gelatinous fungus grows from decaying conifer wood. It is white to transparent with white spines or ‘teeth’ beneath the cap on which its spores are produced. A very beautiful fungus, Pseudohydnum (False hydnum) gelatinosum is edible. In China it is sweetened and given to children as a candy treat.

It is in the Auriculariaceae family of the Auriculariales order.
