DACRYMYCETALES order

The Dacrymycetaceae family includes rubbery textured fungi considered to be ‘JELLY’ Fungi. They have ‘tuning fork’ basidia. Along with gelatinous representatives of the Tremellales order, they are among the first Agaricomyctes to appear on wood somewhere between 300 Mya and 200 Mya. Most are yellowish in color. There are several different species of this family. Click on the photo of Calocera cornea representing the Dacrymycetaceae family to see other common representatives of this group.
