Suillus placidus

Suillus placidus  (Bonord.) Singer 1945

This pale Suillus species, like many of its relatives, seems well-adapted to cooler climates and to its mycorrhizal associate, White Pine.  Suillus pacidus (Gentle pig) has  white to yellow-tan greasy cap. This is in the Suilliaceae family of the Boletales.
