Russula amoenolens Romagnesi
is in the foetid russula group. It has a brownish viscid cap with a darker center, a bumpy, striate margin and a bitter taste. Its odor is initially reminiscent of maraschino cherries or almonds, but later turns unpleasant. It can be found with both hardwoods and conifers. It is in the Russulaceae family of the Russulales.
