The Hygrophoraceae family includes many Waxy Caps that are quite colorful. It is not known if they are mycorrhizal, saprotrophic or both. None are known to be poisonous. However, they are not eaten very much due to viscid slime coating. The family has recently been updated by Lodge et al and now includes 18 genera, 6 of which are represented below.
