“Mossy Maple Polypore” Parasitic on wounds near tree base. This parasitic thick, hairy perennial shelf fungus often grows in tiers. It is a white rotter that grows from wounds at the base of maple trees. Moss finds the cap surface suitable for growing. It is for the time being in the Schizoporaceae family of the Hymenochaetales.
